Altona Mining (ASX:AOH) has completed a pit optimisation study at the Turkey Creek deposit, a newly discovered zone at the Cloncurry copper project in Queensland, Australia. This Turkey Creek zone now contains 17.3 million tonnes of ore at an average grade of 0.51% copper for a total copper content of almost 200 million pounds of copper.

This could be a boost for the Little Eva project as these additional resources have not been included in the current mine plan and as the Little Eva mine plan calls for a production rate of 7 million tonnes per year, the current 17.3 million tonnes resource estimate could extend the current mine life by approximately 2 year as Turkey Creek is just 1.5 kilometers away from the proposed Little Eva open pit.
