Freegold Ventures (FVL.V) has announced it has acquired the Shorty Creek copper-gold project in Alaska. The project is located approximately 100 kilometers from Fairbanks in the Livengood-Tolima gold district, where International Tower Hill Mines (THM) (unviable) Livengood gold project is located. A first geophysical survey has commenced.

Historical exploration programs have encountered mineralized zones of low-grade copper and gold and at first sight doesn’t get us excited. However, the project originally was an antimony project, and it might make sense for Freegold Ventures to assay any future drill holes for antimony as well, as we’re bullish on that commodity. Freegold realizes and understands this is a ‘buyer’s market’, and seems to be expanding its footprint in Alaska by smart additions to its portfolio.
