Harvest Minerals (ASX:HMI) has released its maiden resource estimate at the Sergi potash project in Brazil. All of the resources are located in the inferred category and can be split up in a sylvinite zone with a total tonnage of 62 million tonnes at 25% KCl. Additionally, there’s a 43 million tonne carnallitite resource with a lower average grade of 15.9% KCl. This results in a total resource of 105 million tonnes at an average KCl-grade of 21.3%.

This is just a first step and Harvest has outlined another area of interest to the north of the current resource estimate, and it would be great to see 100 million tonnes of sylvinite at an average grade of approximately 25% KCl, and that could be a very important step in the development of the company as we all know how much fertilizer the Brazilian economy needs. It will be very important to see further developments as this could really be something to keep an eye on.
