West African Resources (WAF.V, ASX:WAF) has announced more drill results on its Mankarga 5 gold project in Burkina Faso, Africa. The drill bit revealed intercepts such as 29 meters of 1.59g/t gold and 72 meters of 2.15g/t. These are excellent intersections and they underpin the quality of the scoping study which was completed in July of this year. The expected all-in sustaining costs for the Mankarga 5 project are less than $700/oz which would put West African into the league of ultra low-cost producers.

West African has reiterated its target to be in production before the end of next year at a rate of in excess of 50,000 ounces of gold per year through a heap leach operation. This production profile could be expanded with a CIL plant as this recent diamond drilling has increased the known mineralization at depth.
