Two weeks ago, West Point Gold (WPG.V) released the assay results of three additional holes that were completed on the Tyro Main Zone, part of the Gold Chain project in Arizona.

West Point Gold has had a successful drill season so far, and the recently published assay results yielded some of the best ever intervals on the property. The bullet points below speak for themselves.

The assay results from these three holes seem to confirm a higher grade zone is developing at the northeast part of the Tyro Main Zone, with a currently known strike length of approximately 100 meters. But what’s even more intriguing, is that this higher-grade zone plunges to the northeast toward the Frisco Graben. As you may remember from our first report on West Point Gold (which you can read here), that Frisco Graben shows some similarities with the Graben at the AngloGold-owned Silicon project.

The drill program has been extended by 5,000 meters to add more holes at Tyro Main (which could support a resource calculation) and to complete an initial drill-test of the Frisco Graben. While the Graben target likely needs a few dozen holes to be thoroughly drill-tested, it will be interesting to see what a first pass comes up with.

So far, the drill program has exceeded our expectations, especially when it comes to grade (compared to the company’s own exploration target of 15.6-31.2 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.5-2.5 g/t). Numerous assayed intervals have a higher to a substantially higher grade and as the company was successfully able to continue to trace the Tyro Main Zone towards the north-northeast we hope the company cannot just deliver on the grade but also on the tonnage. And the Frisco Graben target represents blue sky exploration potential (and hopefully we’ll get a good initial indication soon).
