Red River Resources (RVR.AX) has completed a grab sampling program on the Sunlight workings zone of the Hillgrove Gold project as part of its strategic plan to restart the Hillgrove gold mine. The company’s field team has taken 13 samples from the 1700 level and an additional 7 samples from the 1650 level to gather a total of almost 50 kilos of material from the historic fill.

Across the 20 samples, the average grade was 5.7 g/t gold, 1.8 g/t silver with the highest gold value returning 14.4 g/t gold. These results appear to be in line with the JORC 2012 resource at Hillgrove which estimated a total of 2.8 million tonnes of material at 5.1 g/t gold. The Sunlight mine itself has a resource of 680,000 tonnes at 8 g/t gold for approximately 175,000 ounces of gold and remains open along strike and at depth and this establishes the mine as an excellent source of ore feed for the Hillgrove processing plant. The next step will be to take a sample from the Sunlight Fill to conduct additional metallurgical test work.
