Aztec Minerals (AZT.V) recently released the assay results from an additional 11 Reverse Circulation holes that were completed as part of its 21,000 meter drill program on its flagship Tombstone gold-silver project.
The headline result is astonishing. The drill bit intersected 155.4 meters containing 1.08 g/t gold and 30.23 g/t silver (for a gold-equivalent grade of 1.63 g/t), which is one of the best intervals ever encountered by Aztec Minerals. This layer of mineralization was encountered within an even thicker interval of 198 meters containing 0.86 g/t gold and 24.5 g/t silver and contains even higher grade sub-intervals like 33.2 meters containing 1.5 g/t gold and 60.5 g/t silver (for a gold-equivalent grade of 2.6 g/t).

And the best feature of all? The mineralization starts at surface with the headline 155.4 meters starting at just 6.1 meters downhole. So not only is this an interval with high-grade material (for an open pit oxide project in this part of the world), hole 30 could also be seen as an infill hole between holes TR21-17 (64 meters of 2.53 g/t AuEq) and hole TR21-22 (which encountered 65.5 meters of 3.39 g/t gold-equivalent). And as an added bonus, hole TR26-30 ended in mineralization, which further confirms the potential for mineralization at depth.
The other 10 holes that were reported on were of course not as good as the barn-burner result in hole 30, but of those 10, 8 intersected mineralization with some interesting intervals, especially from the Hard Up zone where 22.9 meters of 0.37 g/t AuEq and 7.6 meters of 0.34 g are encouraging.

And let’s not forget the majority of those 10 other holes were the first holes drilled in new exploration areas. Five of those holes were for instance completed at the Hard Up / Independence Mine areas, and these are the first holes completed by Aztec in that area.
The company is now aggressively drilling the North End area target, and we expect to see more assay results to be released soon, as the company continues to build momentum towards a maiden resource estimate at Tombstone.
