Last week, District Metals (DMX.V) released the assay results from the grab and rock chip sampling program on the Svardso polymetallic property in Swedens Bergslagen district. In 2021, District Metals completed a fieldwork program aiming at taking samples from the showings and historical mines (the records show mining actually started 600 years ago) along the four kilometer long mineralized trend at Svardsjo.

The company highlighted a few select sampling results and although the ultimate truth machine is to drill a few holes in the mineralized areas, the sample results are very encouraging as District’s field program encountered high-grade zinc and silver results.

At the end of last year, District Metals salso retained a contractor to complete a heliborne SkyTEM survey and magnetic survey over the property and the data from this survey is currently being analyzed. This data, in combination with the results of the sampling program, will help District Metals to zoom in on some high-priority drill targets on Svardsjo which is shaping up to be an interesting project.

In a separate update published earlier this week, District Metals also reported on the assay results from the samples taken from the Gruvberget property in Sweden, which is also located in the very prolific Bergslagen mining district. At Gruvberget, the company’s field team completed a reconnaissance visit in the last quarter of 2021 and to use CEO Ainsworth’s own words ‘the recon visit was even more exciting than anticipated’.  The sampling program started out at the open pit in the south zone and continued along the north zone where the field team has defined what it calls ‘walk up drill targets’ as it walked arlong the showings where past drilling has indicated the presence of a mineralized body that’s about 160 meters deep and 550 meters long.

As you can read in a previous update here, there’s plenty of smoke around the Gruvberget target with historical drill holes at the North Zone running 98 g/t silver, and 7.3% ZnPb over a 4.8 meter interval, while another hole contained 8.9 meters of 40 g/t silver and 5% ZnPb. The South Zone appears to be even more intriguing with for instance 4.6 meters containing 139 g/t silver and 14.7% ZnPb and 6.4 meters containing 66 g/t silver and 9.6% ZnPb. The results from the sample program can be seen below.

While it’s easy to get excited about the recent samples and we rarely see the a press release as upbeat as District’s, the company obviously won’t jump the gun and is waiting for the interpretation of the recently completed SkyTEM EM and magnetic survey to define and refine its drill targets.

But of course, the Tomtebo project remains the company’s flagship project and we are looking forward to see continued exploration activities there throughout 2022.
