Just a week after the NDAA got approved in the Senate, President Obama has already signed the Congressional bill. This is an important milestone as the bill now effectively is a law and there’s nothing standing in the way of the next few steps which put Nevada Copper’s (NCU.TO) Pumpkin Hollow phase 2 on a fast-track towards the final permits.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) now has 180 days to put the land transfer into effect and the deadline is June 17th but will likely be completed before this deadline. It’s a huge relief to see Nevada Copper being able to fast-track the second phase of Pumpkin Hollow. An updated feasibility study (which should be better than the original one) will be reported in Q1 2015 and due to the move of the environmental decisions on the project to the state level, the permitting process for Pumpkin Hollow could be completed by next summer, a record time.

With the land transfer being finalized, Nevada Copper is one of the very few junior copper companies with several billions pounds of copper in the ground at an almost fully permitted project with a feasibility study showing attractive economics, even at $2.75 copper. Nevada Copper will now undoubtedly accelerate its discussions with potential strategic partners which might be keen on securing a copper offtake with a project located in a first world country.
