West African Resources (ASX:WAF, WAF.V) continues to attract interest with its exploration program at the Mankarga 5 deposit in Burkina Faso, Africa. Of interest are intersections such as 30 meters at 2.48g/t gold and 21 meter of 5.43 g/t gold from surface. This bodes extremely well for the outcome of a study aimed to determine the viability of the project, as it’s truly remarkable to see this kind of grades at an oxidized deposit which should be amenable for heap leaching.

West African Resources is determined to fast-track the Mankarga project and aims to be a 50,000+ oz per year producer in just 2 years time. A first scoping study is expected shortly, and a resource update should be released by year’s end, so that construction works can start in 2015. The results of the scoping study could be very interesting, and we’ll definitely keep an eye on further developments.
