Syndicated Metals (ASX:SMD) has announced new drill results from its ongoing exploration program at the Barbara copper-gold project in northern Queensland, Australia. The company has now received all results from a 4,500 meter drill program which was designed to explore for shallow mineralized zones at the project. Of interest are the intercepts of 27 meters at 1.73% copper (although this is mainly caused by a high-grade intercept of 11 meters at 2.88% copper which means that the remaining 16 meters of the mineralized zone carried average copper values of less than 1%).

These results are extremely encouraging and seem to validate the geological model which shows a fault gap area in the central part of the proposed open pit at Barbara. Drilling will resume later this month, and we’re looking forward to see more decent copper intersections to confirm the relatively high-grade open pit resource at Barbara.
